Starting  life in Africa, it was a long journey before Pastor Rob ended up  here at Newport First Baptist Church. The son of a missionary, Rob grew up in various places in Africa and the United States. He graduated from Bible college in the Seattle area and has been pastoring for nearly 20 years. Though he has always loved being "out in the country", his first few years  of pastoring were in Seattle where he met his wife Erin.  After eight years, God moved  Rob and Erin and their family to rural America. As they lived their lives obeying God's mission for them, they ended up in Northern Pend Oreille county and fell in love with the area and all the people who live here. Church work moved them away from the area for about five years, but, in early 2008 to take a job, Rob and Erin moved back to Pend Oreille county where they settled in Newport and started attending Newport First Baptist Church. Though the Malcolms only joined our church family as members, God had other plans. In October of 2008, they were called as pastors of our church. As lead pastors, Rob and Erin teach from God's word and lead us in following Jesus. Erin also heads up our worship department.

Rob and Erin are enjoying raising their brood of ten kids, a few dogs, an elusive cat and whatever other animals show up at their home just south of town.  "We are so blessed that God trusted us to not only be a part of our church family, but also to allow us to lead them as we serve Him. We could not love them more!"

A few other things you need to know about Pastor Rob and Erin - He loves his mochas. She does NOT. They both enjoy long drives and being outdoors. Rob will never turn down a dessert, and Erin, well, Red Vines are the way to her heart. The most important thing to know though, our pastors love God with all their hearts and try every day to live life so God is pleased.
